MAKERS STORIES \\ REBECCA DESNOS

It is always a joy to be able to meet your instagram friends in person. To be honest that is mainly why I am on instagram for. Probably not the right way to use instagram. Anyway… I have been following, talking to Rebecca, one of the best known natural dyer the UK, for a long time now. I still have the scarf I bought from her when she had at Etsy shop – way way back. So to actually meet her, and be commissioned to do a shoot with her for FAIRE magazine was just an incredible experience.

If you have some of Rebecca’s books you know that she will try to natural dye with everything that is available to her in her surrounding. She had prepared some pans ahead of the shoot. And then we had a chance to go foraging. I am always amazed at how makers observe nature, and can see all the opportunities, in all the plants, and landscapes, I usually take for granted.

You can read the full article – and learn more about Rebecca’s story and inspiration, and many other pictures, as well as stories from other makers in Issue 8 of Faire Magazine. If you are in the UK, you can get it from The Future Kept. I will also be posting on my instagram, of course. If you want to read more about the makers and creatives I meet, you can find it here
