Welcome to winter wonderland – or what I woke up to when I was in Cheshire back in December, which was slightly unnerving as I was really in the middle of nowhere – and not the best snow driver (as we do not have a lot of experience of this here). Anyway all the snow was not wasted, as it provided an amazing backdrop to the cutest modern rustic cottage in Cheshire, and the photo-op opportunities were of course incredible.
I am going to link to the airbnb, but you have to get passed the pictures. You have to see the potential, and trust me on this one. My requirements for that particular weekend were quite simple – close to Knutsford, where my offices are (we had a Christmas party and I needed to be able to drive back), but in the middle of nowhere, with some modern rustic charm, oh and the essential wood burner. It is a cottage for 1 or 2 – there is a sofa bed, but this could become a bit cramp.
The cottage interiors is everything I like, the dark green, the cosy modern rustic interiors, and general cosiness of it all. I do like small spaces, especially on the bit cluttered type. I may have added a couple fo my paper crafts as well. I was very inspired by Christmas at the time, and also this paper stars’ tutorial.
I am not sure I have a lot of recommendations of what to do in the neighbourhood, between the snow and my distaste of driving in the snow, and how much sleep I needed, I spent in the area and followed the public footpaths at the end of the drive. However I did finish my book Swimming Lessons by Claire Fuller. Not sure it is the most uplifting read when you are on your own, but how good is it to finish a book with proper content!
Anyway I cannot recommend enough to go to an Airbnb on your own. Choose a small, cosy one so it is not too overwhelming. But that could be just me. Being in the middle of nowhere was good for a couple of days, after a full day of meetings at the office and Xmas dinner. So I probably had my share of personal connections, ready for a couple of days of a rest. Only to come back to be there for Luc’s birthday party.
