UK Travel // Albion Nights Cabin

Albion Nights is the cosy, off-grid “cabin of dreams” nestled in the heart of the countryside of Norfolk. I have had the pleasure of doing a couple of shoots there – shooting for a retreat, and then coming for a couple of nights. And both times it has been a pleasure, and so inspiring.

A stay at Albion Nights is the opportunity to enjoy some luxury downtime, all-year-round. Switch off from the business of life and indulge in a relaxing, child-free environment.

You also get to bathe under the stars, immerse yourself in nature, and just enjoy slowing right down.

Hidden away in a beautiful wildflower meadow beside a pond, made from timber and salvage, the wood cabin is straight from a story book. The tin-roofed cottage sits on the far side of a six-acre meadow, which has a pond and is home to a plethora of bugs, birds and bees. Albion Night‘s rustic romance will enchant visitors. A beautifully crafted terrace has been constructed from local tree trunks which have been used to create the columns which hold up the ramshackle (but perfectly secure) roof.

A wicker sofa draped with luxurious sheepskins provides the ideal spot to gaze out over the extensive landscape, alternatively, guests can hop into the outdoor tub and soak in the a hot bubble bath, whatever the weather. Inside, the cabin has been lovingly filled with rustic fittings, always stylish and always comfortable. The living and sleeping area is nice and open plan and is home to a cosy wood burner, arm chairs and a kitchenette (equipped for simple suppers) and small dining area. The abundance of quilted rugs and throws make for a homely, welcoming environment and provide a lovely contrast with the reclaimed pallet and corrugated iron walls.

Floor to ceiling green velvet curtains divide the area between the sleeping and the living spaces and they are pulled back to reveal a large, bespoke, wooden double bed which sits underneath a lovely window which opens out onto more of the wonderful natural world outside. Above the bed there is a large skylight – so snuggle down under the stars for a wonderful, uninterrupted night’s sleep. There is also an en-suite bathroom.

Albion Nights is situated in the Waveney Valley on the Suffolk and Norfolk border. Historic Norwich is just a 20 minute bus ride away and the nearby market towns Bungay and Beccles are great places to stock up on local produce. It is a place you can move in quickly and feel at home instantly, thanks to the lovely Helen. It is also a place where no one expects you to do a lot, and just to be present.
